What is the likelihood of dying from COVID-19 as an elderly person?
In the US, fatality rates are reported as ranging from 10-27 percent for persons 85 and older. For persons between the ages of 65 and 85 it is between 3 and 11 percent. However, co-morbidities such as lung diseases, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and cardiovascular diseases are linked to higher mortality rates.
