New Jersey Department of Human Services: Supportive Assistance to Individuals and Families (SAIF)

• An additional safety net for individuals and families who have reached the five-year time limit for Work First New Jersey welfare and do not qualify for an exemption. Provides intensive case management alongside benefits, such as cash payments, childcare, and transportation for up to 24 months

Bergen County: HEARTS Program

• The HEARTS program includes a coordinated intake for families experiencing homelessness, which connects them to public benefits, food assistance, childcare support, and legal support. The program also includes temporary emergency shelter for families who are experiencing homelessness or about to lose their housing. For families receiving TANF, the HEARTS program also offers BRIDGE temporary housing for a maximum of one-year. This housing includes case managment and the development of a housing permanency plan. Participants are required to contribute 30% of their income to rent.
