Have there been changes to how State business and legislative sessions are conducted as a result of COVID-19? Will the State fiscal year be extended?

The current fiscal year deadline will be extended to September 30. The Senate, General Assembly, and Governor's Office will work together to enact a supplemental appropriations bill to carry government operations from July 1 until September 30, and then work to enact a final fiscal package to cover from September 30 to June 30, 2021. The State Treasurer will report on the financial condition of the budget for Fiscal Years 2020 and 2021 by May 22, 2020 and the Governor will submit a revised budget proposal for Fiscal Year 2021 by August 25.

Previously, A-3852/S-2296 allowed conduct of State business and legislative sessions at locations other than Trenton during periods of emergency or other exigency and allows conduct of legislative business using electronic means.
