Is New Jersey under a public health state of emergency?
Yes, on March 9, 2020, Governor Murphy declared both a state of emergency and a public health emergency related to the COVID-19 pandemic. On April 7, Governor Murphy extended the public health state of emergency for an additional 30 days. This public health state of emergency may be extended until a determination is made that an emergency no longer exists.
The declaration of a state of emergency allows the Governor to make certain resources immediately available and allows the State to take necessary actions to protect the public. To learn more, refer to guidance from the State of New Jersey Office of Emergency Management.
