How does the coronavirus affect children?
The CDC advises that children are no more susceptible to the virus than the general population. Children who are infected with the coronavirus usually have mild respiratory symptoms. As this situation develops, researchers are working to better understand how children are affected. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is collecting information about this topic daily. It's important to note that even without displaying symptoms children who may be infected with the COVID-19 virus could spread it to others. On 10 March 2020 the International Federation of the Red Cross (IFRC), UNICEF and the World Health Organization (WHO) issued guidance to help protect children and schools from transmission of the COVID-19 virus.
