How can I get infected?

COVID-19 spreads when a person with the virus coughs, sneezes, talks, or exhales. Small droplets land on the skin and enter the body when one touches their face around their nose or mouth. Breathing in these droplets can transmit the virus; however, this can be prevented by keeping your distance from a person who is sick.

Notably, the role of people infected by the virus but who exhibit no or minor symptoms is now thought by many experts to be a greater cause for the spread of COVID-19 than was previously thought. This makes it even more important to practice social distancing. Also, we should all be covering our mouths and noses with cloth face coverings when around others.
